Beijing - broady

Tian'an Men Square before dawn. The morning flag-raising ceremony attracts 'pilgrims' from all over China. We arrived a little late on the first morning, so we weren't able to get close enough to the front to see anything. The second morning, and about an hour before dawn and I was able to get a reasonably good position. I must say, though, my presence caused a great many stares from the Chinese sightseers. I got the impression that they couldn't understand why I was there - or even if I should be!
